Why PE? Our goal in physical education is to maximizes an individuals potential for developing and maintaining a healthy body and mind. Studies have showed that physical education directly contributes to Physical, Social, Cognitive and Emotional Development of all ages. The "Benefits" of a quality physical education program are endless. Some of the benefits of Physical Development are: Increased flexibility, strength, balance, cardiovascular fitness, endurance, cooridination, aerobic and anaerobic endurance. Some of the benefits of Social Development are: Learning how to cooperate with a partner and in small groups, developing teamwork, making good chances, learning how to compete. Some of the benefits of Cognitive Development are: Goal setting, problem solving, learning how to stay on task, leadership skills, decision making. Some of the benefits of Emotional Development are: Increased trust in self and others, positive risk taking, meeting challenges, developing patience, perseverance, dealing with failure, self control and courage, self esteem, confidence.
